Psychology and Chinese Medicine: Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies
with Brandt Stickley, February 2014
Course Information:
Long hailed as a modern classic in the field, Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies is more than a theoretical tour-de-force. It is the cornerstone of a comprehensive diagnostic system that integrates classical Chinese medical theory, a sophisticated method of pulse diagnosis, humanistic and bio-energetic psychology and the decades-long experience of Dr. Leon Hammer. In this course, Brandt Stickley will demonstrate how the ideas in the text are applied in practice. Learn how to understand how the patient experiences the world, and how this informs the patient’s condition. From cognitive and behavioral style, to anxiety, depression, love, sex and psychosis, discover how the Five-phase model lays bare the manifestation of pathological patterns in the evolution of being, and how to assist patients in the deepest aspects of transformation. This 2-day course provides grounding in the model with clinical examples and ample acupuncture and herbal formula information.
Course Instructor:
Brandt Stickley is an Assistant Professor of Classical Chinese Medicine at National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and is also faculty at Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He has studied Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis for 10 years with Dr. Leon Hammer, MD. According to Dr. Hammer:
“Brandt Stickley has been an esteemed student and colleague for over a decade during which time he has demonstrated a grasp of my message that has illuminated my way to new and inspiring insights. While occupying his own growing special place in the continuum of Chinese medicine he is furthering my own contribution and is clearly in the tradition of creative and innovative minds such as my teacher, Dr. John H.
